Dana Blumberg, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft’s wife, recently made news after being appointed by the newly elected US President Donald Trump as a board of trustees member at the Kennedy Center.
The announcement happened earlier this February (2025), after Trump fired former Kennedy Center board members and assigned himself its chairman.
“At my direction, we are going to make the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., GREAT AGAIN,” Trump wrote in a post. “I have decided to immediately terminate multiple individuals… who do not share our Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture.”

Blumberg’s husband, billionaire Robert Kraft, is a known supporter and long-time friend of Donald Trump and has admitted to donating for the latter’s presidential campaign and inauguration. They met in the 1990s, long before Trump’s foray into politics.
Here’s everything about Dana Blumberg, from her early life, education, career, and relationship with the NFL owner.
Who Is Dana Blumberg?
Ophthalmologist Dana Blumberg was born in 1974 in New York City, from parents Nathan and Marlene Blumberg. Her father, Nathan, is a well-known physician and urologist, while her mother, Marlene, was a teacher and a former member of a women’s zionist organization.
Despite being married to the Patriots owner and business mogul, Blumberg has kept details of her personal life under a tight lid. Information about her childhood or whether she has siblings remains unknown.
The 51-year-old doctor frequently accompanied Robert Kraft in several red-carpet events. However, Blumberg herself isn’t one to court the spotlight.

She also doesn’t use social media, save for a single Facebook page, which hasn’t had any posts since 2018. Her one 2024 interview with NBC about her research was also taken down, including her bio in Columbia University’s website.
What Does Dana Blumberg Do?
Despite her utmost dedication to stay out of the spotlight, Kraft has undoubtedly hit the jackpot with his second wife.
Dr. Dana Blumberg is one of the country’s leading ophthalmologists. She graduated from Brown University and obtained her medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 2000, per the Department of Health’s website.
After her residency and fellowship, Blumberg practiced medicine in North Carolina before heading to New York. She quickly became one of the leading names in her field, and worked with several prestigious hospitals and universities.

She was a board-certified ophthalmologist at the CUMC, specializing in eye care and glaucoma treatment. Blumberg also had a stint as an associate professor at Columbia University in New York City and a doctor at University Hospital Cleveland.
It’s unclear whether she remains affiliated with any of these schools.
While her husband boasts massive successes in sports and business, Blumberg is no slouch on her own. Throughout her career, the doctor received several accolades and awards for her expertise as an eye doctor.
In 2009, she earned the American Glaucoma Society’s Clinician Scientist Award. She also won the Wilmer Eye Institute Teaching Award in 2006. By 2013, she made the New York Times’ Super Doctor Rising Stars list for her massive contributions to the medical community.
Blumberg spent most of her career trying to treat glaucoma. Her research, funded by the National Institute of Health, was focused on developing novel methods to detect glaucoma-related eye diseases early on and prevent total vision loss.
“Dr. Blumberg hopes to demonstrate that the wide-scale implementation of such a tool for high-risk patients would reduce their lifetime prevalence of visual loss from glaucoma,” one newsletter posted by the medical center wrote.
Kraft, for his part, is incredibly proud of his wife’s achievements.
“People talk to me about sports, and I haven’t talked much, but I’m going to because of how lucky I am, having found the woman that I did,” the billionaire told People, talking about her “terrific” life with Blumberg.
When Did Dana Blumberg Meet Robert Kraft?
Keeping most details of their relationship private, it remains unclear when or how the power couple met.
Blumberg and Kraft reportedly knew each other and were pals for a few years before they started dating. The two were initially seen together in 2017 at an Elton John AIDS Foundation event, which started the romantic rumors.
However, former Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin finally revealed one crucial detail about their initial romance. According to the Fanatics CEO, Blumberg and Kraft had their first date at the Olde Heritage Tavern in Lenox, Massachusetts.
“This is the bar they had their first date, so [I] had it renamed “BLUMBERG’S,” Rubin captioned on Instagram, alongside a series of photos of the couple.

By June 2019, after two years of flirting, Kraft and Blumber finally confirmed their relationship after the French Open, in which they were seen holding hands. One month later, the couple was also spotted getting all mushy at the Women’s World Cup in Paris.
Following their announcement, Blumberg and Kraft became inseparable, attending red-carpet and sporting events together. All these happened while Kraft was facing charges for allegedly soliciting prostitution, from which he has since been acquitted.
Looking back to their journey, Kraft expressed his immense gratitude for meeting Blumberg at the time that he did. “I think it was God’s hand at work how I met her,” the 83-year-old told People in an interview.
“I met a woman who was just off the charts, and she made me very happy. And hopefully I make her very happy.”
When Did Dana Blumberg and Robert Kraft Get Married?
Fast forward to 2022, after three happy years together, the American sports star and business mogul finally popped the question. Some sources reported that Kraft proposed to Blumberg with a stunning 10-carat diamond ring.

The couple, however, kept the date and venue of their wedding a secret until the fateful day.
On October 14, 2022, Blumberg and Kraft surprised their friends with an unexpected wedding ceremony at the Hall des Lumières in New York City. Kraft, who was 81, and Blumber, then-47, wed in front of over 200 guests, a blend of celebrities and sports stars.
The guests reportedly didn’t know they were attending a wedding, as the couple called the event a “Kickoff and a Touchdown” party. It was only after the groom stepped on a glass, per Jewish wedding tradition, that they understood what they’re celebrating for.
“Most of the people didn’t know it was a wedding celebration,” one source said in an interview. “She (Blumberg) was in a wedding dress, and Elton John announced them as husband and wife.”

According to Page Six, Kraft and Blumberg planned their wedding mere three weeks before the event, after meeting Elton John backstage in one of his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” shows.
The rock icon allegedly proposed to perform at their wedding. Thrilled at the once-in-a-lifetime offer, they quickly organized their wedding and picked the one day Elton John is free to tie the knot.
Before Blumberg, Kraft was previously married to his college sweetheart, Myra Hiatt Kraft, for five decades before the latter passed away from cancer in 2011.
Final Thoughts
Exchanging vows to the soulful crooning of Elton John has to be a magical experience most of us can only dream of. But I’d say someone as dedicated to public service as Dr. Dana Blumberg undoubtedly deserves it on her special day.
Now married to the sports icon for over two years, the couple’s relationship appears to be going stronger than ever.
