Ty Doran was born on the 29th of October, 1997, making him 27 years old at the time of writing. He was born in Topanga, California, and he started his acting career at the young age of 8 in theater productions.
According to Doran, he played a child role in a theater version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and he got hooked on acting at a young age. He kept joining theater productions until he finished high school at Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas.
After graduating high school, he enrolled at Northwestern University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Theater.
During his time at the university, he started joining different projects with on-camera work, trying to go out of his theater comfort zone. According to him, the change was both exciting and challenging.
Ty Doran’s Early Acting Career
Ty Doran’s introduction to acting was inevitable since his father was an actor and a director. Doran’s first theater role in A Midsummer Night’s Dream was directed by his father, so he had both the support and guidance he needed to kickstart his career.

According to Doran, his father would prep him before every audition and tell him honest opinions about his performance. Naturally, that led to some harsh conversations between them, and Doran said that receiving criticism from your father as a child actor is difficult.
Despite that, the father and son later built a much stronger relationship because Doran started recognizing the importance of honesty and considering his dad a partner as well as a father.
How Ty Doran Got His Role in Manifest
Ty Doran started a career in theater, and then he did a couple of voice-over roles in some animes.
His debut role came in 2016 when he joined ABC’s American Crime in a recurring role as Peter Tanner. After that, he joined Hulu’s All Night, but the show failed and stopped airing after 10 episodes.
His first breakthrough came in the third season of Manifest in 2021 when he joined the show as the older version of Cal Stone. The role later became full-time in the fourth season of the show.

According to Doran, when he first auditioned for Manifest, he didn’t know what he was auditioning for. The production was apparently pretty secretive, and the audition was done with fake scenes and different character names.
On top of that, Doran said that he didn’t watch the series prior to auditioning. His mother was the one watching it, and she’s reportedly a huge fan of the show.
What’s Next for Ty Doran?
Now that Manifest has ended, Ty Doran is looking for the next big opportunity. He’s reportedly looking for a role with more stunts. In fact, the actor mentioned that doing stunts similar to Tom Cruise’s famous scenes is on his bucket list.
During Manifest, there was no chance for a risky stunt, and the production was extra careful that nobody got hurt, so Doran didn’t unlock his full potential.
According to the young actor, aside from doing stunts, he’d love to work with anyone from the cast of Atlanta since he idolizes the show’s creator, Donald Glover.
