When you’re born into Hollywood royalty, the red carpet seems like your natural birthright. But what happens when you decide to trade the spotlight for something…sweeter?
Meet Alyxandra Beatris Brown. She’s the refreshingly down-to-earth daughter of television legends Georg Stanford Brown and Tyne Daly, who chose to follow her heart instead of her family’s footsteps.
While her famous parents were busy collecting Emmy Awards and her sisters were landing movie roles, Alyxandra was carving out a different path. She went straight to owning a cozy bakery in Canada rather than a Hollywood soundstage.

Early Life and Education
Born on October 1, 1985, in Los Angeles, Alyxandra Beatris Brown entered the world surrounded by the glitz and glamor of Tinseltown.
Her father, Georg Stanford Brown, was already a household name thanks to his starring role as Officer Terry Webster in the hit ABC series “The Rookies.”
Her mother, Tyne Daly, would soon become a television icon herself. She’s won multiple Emmy Awards for her unforgettable portrayal of Detective Mary Beth Lacey in “Cagney & Lacey.”
Growing up in such a creatively charged environment, you’d expect young Alyxandra (who now goes by “Xan”) to catch the acting bug. Instead, she found herself drawn to different forms of artistic expression.
She also pursued a Bachelor’s degree in English literature. This choice perhaps shows her love for storytelling, just not the kind that happens in front of cameras.
Interesting fact: Alyxandra’s extended family reads like a who’s who of entertainment. Her grandfather James Daly was a respected actor, and her uncle Tim Daly, continued the family tradition on both stage and screen.
Career
While her sisters, Alisabeth and Kathryne, followed the family tradition into acting, Alyxandra discovered her true calling in the kitchen.
Her journey into the culinary world began somewhat serendipitously when her sister introduced her to the owners of The Village Bakery and Café in Los Angeles.

“Working with Barbara and her team gave me experience and skills I use to this day,” Alyxandra shared in her bakery’s bio. So, this wasn’t just a casual job. It was the beginning of a passion that would completely reshape her life.
Despite having a literature degree, Alyxandra’s heart was pulling her toward culinary arts. She enrolled in specialized culinary programs, determined to master the craft of baking.
Today, she owns Five Petal Creations. It’s a boutique bakery in Victoria, British Columbia, with her husband Mark Atkins.
Wondering about their specialty? Creating show-stopping wedding cakes and celebration confections using what they lovingly call “heirlooms of love.” These are family recipes passed down through generations.

Love, Family, and Marriage
Alyxandra’s love story sounds like something straight out of a romantic movie. She met Mark Atkins, a talented cook from British Columbia, who was working toward his Red Seal certification, and their connection was instant.
Believe it or not, they went on a spontaneous three-day first date that revealed just how perfectly matched they were.
“During a spontaneous three-day first date, we learned how much we had in common,” she recalled. Both were food lovers, travel enthusiasts, movie buffs, and dreamers hoping to build something beautiful together.
Mark, who founded Mind’s Eye Production in the film industry, understood the entertainment world but shared Alyxandra’s desire for a more grounded life.
After getting engaged on April 27, 2014, the couple tied the knot in 2019 in a wonderful ceremony on Victoria Island. The pair has also welcomed three children since: Roscoe, Evelyn, and Theia.
