Every autumn, we happen to visit one small, yet very exciting Estonian island. I've combined my passion for analog photography with these trips.

We visited Prangli in 15-16th October 2005, which happened to be a very sunny weekend.

Mohni

The island’s landscape is partly amazingly similar to the northern landscape – tundra. The most attractive tree is a primeval tree under protection – Mohni linden.

Keri

One of the most extreme trips was to Keri, a small island, 30km north from Tallinn. The Keri island is only 3ha and is equipped with a lighthouse, livinghouse, sauna, an old antenna tower once used by the Soviet Army and a cote for woods.

Osmussaar

The island's Swedish name Odensholm (or Odinsholm) derives from the Vikings' chief god, Odin, who, according to a legend, is buried on the island. The origin of the Estonian name Osmussaar is not clear.

Abruka

The area of the island is 8.78 km². It lies 6 km from the port of Roomassaare near Kuressaare on Saaremaa. The population is almost 40.

Aegna

Historically Aegna has been used for military purposes, and military remains that can still be seen include those of a military watchtower, a large gun battery with underground tunnels, and the light railway used in its construction.

Piirissaar

There are three villages on the island, Piiri, Saare and Tooni. The number of inhabitants has dropped from c. 700 in 1920 to 86 by 2006. The remaining inhabitants are mostly occupied by fishing and cultivation of onions.
